News 2021

December 09

We are proud to announce that Prof. Reitzig has been awarded the Bill Nobles Fellowship by the Rutgers University (New Jersey, USA), School of Management and Labor Relations. Prof. Reitzig will be a fellow of the Institute for Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing at the SMLR.

This Fellowship recognises the research done by Prof. Reitzig in the areas of leadership and non-hierarchical organizations. As part of the fellowship, Prof. Reitzig will give several keynote lectures to the broader public over the coming two years and advise the Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing at Rutgers University on the selection and sponsoring of new research projects.

Most recently Prof. Reitzig's related research has culminated in the writing of a book on how to change to and operate with flat hierarchical structures, and when such a thing is feasible for a company (or when it might not be). The book "Get Better at Flatter: A Guide to Shaping and Leading Organizations with Less Hierarchy" is currently in production and will be published early next year.

June 04

Now that we have seen many of the Covid-restrictions easing, many (economic) sectors are re-opening as well. How this process actually looks in practice, and what some of the challenges are, will be the focal point of a talk next Monday. So if this is a topic that is of interest to you, then tune in on 07 June 2021, 13:00 on oe1 to listen to one of the newest iterations of their "Punkt 1" series. (Please note that this is a program in German.) Prof. Reitzig will be on air, discussing the topic with Xaver Forthuber. More information can be found here.

We are happy to be able to share that Inna Smirnova, former PhD student of Prof. Reitzig at our subject area, has been offered and accepted a position as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Michigan School of Information. Inna has been a valued team member over the last few years, so while we will be sad to see her go, we are excited to congratulate her and wish her the very best for these new steps on her journey.

April 07

As announced in the last news post, we can now provide with a way to watch the talk Prof. Reitzig and Florian Bernschneider (AGV Braunschweig) had on March 31st. So if you are interested in topics such as (changing to) flat organisational structures, click here to find the video.

Over the last years, calls for changes to traditional organisational structures have become quite ubiquitous. A flat, team-based structure is often touted as the new recipe to success - but how exactly does a flat organisational structure look like, when can it be implemented successfully, and who might reasonably profit from it? Managers? Regular employees?

These are just some of the questions Professor Reitzig and Florian Bernschneider (AGV Braunschweig) will talk about on March 31st.

If this sounds like something you would be interested to see, check back in April - we will provide you with a link to the recorded event.
