Adapting teaching to Covid19

Possible Changes

Dear students,

As you are all well aware,  with regards to the mode in which courses and exams can and/or should be held, everything is still largely dependent on the development of the Covid-19 infection rates.

That means that, for now, both the courses themselves, as well as exams may take place either fully digital, or as hybrid forms with teaching in lecture halls and digital learning. Should the need arise, they will be modified in a way to allow for fully digital learning, in order to ensure that students will still be able to finish their courses this semester.

We strongly encourage you to check the university's website, as well as your e-mails, regularly for updates on the general situation.

Should more short-term changes be necessary, you will likely also be notified about any changes pertaining to specific courses/exams by the respective lecturers.

Welcome to the Strategic Management Subject Area!

Within the Management Department we do research on and teach about how firms generate and retain value, and how managers can design effective organizations for their purposes. Within this realm, we are particularly interested in settings in which new products, processes, and business ideas are more broadly created and exploited.

Through our work we seek to engage with three different audiences very important to us:

Together with our colleagues from the international academic community we seek to advance the current scientific discussion in our field; by addressing fundamental yet unresolved questions in our domain; by publishing our findings in, reviewing for, and shaping the leading journals; by organizing joint conferences; through mutual seminar invitations; and by conducting collaborative work.

To our students, we seek to deliver the finest training that combines both proven basics and latest insights, in order to give them a head start for their careers.

To corporations worldwide, and in particularly to those in Austria and Germany, we reach out for co-operation along a variety of dimensions – including (but not being limited to) advisory work, expert assessments, workshops, in-house training, and other work.

We look forward to working with you, and to welcoming you to Vienna!

Major Course Registration WS 20/21

Dear students,

Please note that the early registration for major courses was an exception for last semester (WS 20/21) to compensate for the time it would take for the doubling of all minor courses to be noticeable in the major. Should a similar exception be made again, you will most likely be notified via an e-mail from the SSC, so everybody, who is in the same situation (missing only one course of the minor), will have a fair chance of making use of such an exception.
