PhD student positions (research and teaching associates)

Please find our job call for the forthcoming (starting in the autumn of 2017) PhD position with reference number 7513 here. (Full text here.)

We constantly look for suited candidates for the PhD program in strategic management. Whereas we may not always immediately have a job offering for you, we do encourage you to send us your documents at your discretion so that we can file them and contact you should an opportunity arise. Before you contact us, please note a few things however:

- Please check our WWW sites to see if the PhD program is what you are looking for in terms of contents and workload. If you are simply interested in obtaining a doctoral degree, there are simpler ways of achieving this goal. If you seek a career in science, you have come to the right place.

- Please consider whether you believe that you have the qualifications we look for. We receive many applications every week, and we usually only invite students with the following profile for an interview:

  • Graduation among the top 5% of your class
  • Excellent GRE/GMAT scores
  • Master’s degree in business, economics, psychology, industrial engineering, or business informatics from a well-known research-based university
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (written, spoken), usually demonstrated in the form of a stay in an English-speaking country for several months at a minimum

When you contact us, all we need from you in the first instance is your (1) cv, (2) a brief letter of motivation (max 1 page), (3) transcripts of your GRE/GMAT/university transcripts. We will not follow up on incomplete emails. Also, if you have applied to us before, please do not resend your application.

Please email your documents to strategic-management@univie.ac.at, subject “PhD student application”.
